The ND Parenting Cycle
This is a ‘hey – I see you’ kind of post.
The reality for parents of a neurodivergent child is that there is always something. Some culminating pain point, difficulty, new challenge, a lagging skill that can’t seem to develop, a new medication to trial, a behaviour that suddenly ramps up. And you start to feel desperate.
And so, the cycle starts.
First, you go deep on research. You find a new parenting approach, or craft a new bedtime routine, or a mantra to help your mindset. You get determined and you give it a red-hot go! And there it is – a glimmer of hope!
And sometimes it sticks (woo hoo!) but sometimes the novelty wanes, the wheels fall off or a new challenge rears its ugly head. And it all starts to disintegrate again. You get frustrated. Then exhausted.
Desperation —> Research —> Determinatio —> GLIMMER OF HOPE —> Disintegration —> Frustration —> Exhaustion
But you pick yourself up and start again – why? Because parents of ND kids are HEROES. Truly. You are a relentless and brave champion.
Wherever you are at in the Neurodivergent Parenting Cycle right now, please know you aren’t alone. With one of our kids we are in ‘glimmer of hope’, the other seems to be about to tip into ‘disintegration’. But we soldier on.
Next time you cycle into the research phase, good news! As a thank you and welcome to all our existing and new subscribers we are offering a 10% discount (code 10OFF) on our parent course until the end of the month.
